To be perfectly clear, a CCW permit is a huge personal commitment in more ways than one.  Carrying a concealed firearm requires a mature, sober, responsible, controlled individual who is capable of both avoiding and walking away from potentially dangerous situations.  It does not give you strength, it gives you the last means of defense.  It does not give you any right to defend society, it gives you the ability to defend yourself when all other attempts to retreat have been exhausted.  If you do not understand this, you have no business carrying a firearm.
